Form and Function - All in one Package

Post by honeyrun » Thu Jul 01, 2004 5:42 am

Last weekend we finished "Puck's" Show championship. After a day of searching the AKC database, it seems that VC, CH Honey Run's Puck, MH is the only male GSP to have both a VC and a CH title.

Also on the same weekend, my German import, Baretta vom Otterbach took a 4 point major. She also carries the JH, NA1, D1, HN titles and has 3 legs of her SH and is ready for her AZP and Utility this fall.

He is one of my pups (CH Legacy's Silhouette, SH X Honey Run's Wild Derriere, SH). This is the first try at this kind of stuff for his owner. He took care of the field work and I took care of the show side. I have dangled the carrot and it looks like the owner will try some field trials in the fall, maybe a "DC" in the making also.

They like to have entries in hand no later than 60 days out from the test. I would like to know sooner if possible.

If you want to come up on a shoe string, I can set my popup up for you at the testing site. There is electric and water and my camper has AC.

Why is finishing a liver a big accomplishment?? Just because there are fewer of them?

Because, unfortunatly, there are alot of judges out here that won`t put them up, no matter how nice they are.

my guess would be that "faults" show up easier on a solid dog? and spots and ticking work like camo?

Both Snips and Sudie are correct.

Some judges just don't like the solid coat. When showing a solid liver, the dog must not have any noticable faults. Muscle tone, structure and form will be intensified. Because of the sheen, it also highlights the bad along with the good. I have found that a when showing a solid liver dog, they have to be better than the ticked ones to even get a second look.

Baretta's pic just got here today. Gotta love that deep chest and all those great angles. It is now back to duck seaches and bird work in preparation of her NAVHDA Utility testing, Master Hunter Testing and AZP test this fall.

Baretta will be doing her AZP test which is the same test as the solms except that it is judged to a higher standard.

Crissy will be doing her JH and her NAVHDA Natural Ability tests this fall.
