Today, my little GSP bitch won the Amateur Derby stake at the Southern New England Brittany Club's Field Trial at Flaherty in East Windsor, CT. This win, gives Katy all her juvenille points on both the Open and Amateur sides towards her AKC FC & AFC respectively. This- and Katy is still Derby eligible through April 29th, 2011.
She ran huge today- it sucked having to handle her off foot, but 'dems da rulez' in AKC Amateur stakes.

She broke away with a little female Brit and they were both G-O-N-E...... down the road with a trail of dust behind them.

I then caught her making a move into the wind going up a cut about 200 yards up. She ran with purpose today- like she really
knew why she was there. She had one broke find on a double and I think that's what won it for her. She let me heel her away
and send her on without me putting a hand on her collar.
Katy finished strong and to the front and was on point again next to the thickest, gnarliest briar/choked alders clump when time
was called. The judge said to me, "don't kill yourself over it" in a deadpan manner as she called time & saw me trying like heck
to breach the objective without getting tore up.
Here's a picture, doesn't Katy look great in BLUE ??

We will hunt wild birds the rest of this fall (including this Wednesday-Saturday on Maine Woodcock & Grouse) and we're headed to the NGSPA Pheasant Championships at Wye Island, MD the first weekend in November. This winter, Katy will be broke and then off to adult stakes next spring- both AKC & AF.
