Top Gun Let There Be Rock finished his Master title yesterday at 17mo of age. He had a great run at it having finished 6 legs in 7 attempts. Time for hunting season!!

Great job! CONGRATS! Now you can go have some real good times without the stress of dealing with some of the "good times" that happen in Testing!

Craig,
Nope. But it is another Top Gun dog that I *believe" holds the record of youngest MH, Top Gun JP's Maverick.
They did it at just a little under 14 months if memory serves me correct.

That doesn't take ANYTHING away from what Dewey was able to accomplish with Rock.......... congrats Dewey !!

Congrats Will , very nice accomplishment. Love the picture on your pedigree page. Steve produced some very nice dogs with his breeding program.

Graydawg, Check with Northern Cajun but I believe the youngest Master Hunter for the breed came out of Sure Shot Kennels I believ is was like 7 or 9 months old. None the less still a very young dog and a very nice accomplishment.

Hey thanks everybody. I trained through force fetch, whoa, and basic obedience on my own but turned him over to Chuck Woods in Iowa for the real work. Chuck does a great job with the dogs and Rock handled the pressure well.

That picture in his pedigree shot he is only about 6 1/2 months old. It's almost like you see the light bulb over his head getting brighter!!! It's one of my favorites.

I will post a picture of him soon with his ribbon, etc and maybe try to get a few field shots.

He probably would've finished at 16mo having gone 4 for 5 on Labor Day weekend, but we decided to leave some training time in between just in case anything needed work. A full littermate to Rock finished her MH two weeks before him and also ran 6 of 7 attempts....failing leg one then breezing through 6 in a row.

There have been lots of dogs younger I think.

Rob - How are you liking the Ace x Hemi breeding? I have been thinking about one of these on their second mating.

Chip - Will you be guiding for me on our youth hunt....buddy...pal...friend?

Dewey,
I believe I'm first on the list for the Ace/Hemi repeat breeding.
I'm looking forward to having full sisters....... roughly two years apart in age!

I'm very happy with my Katy, she's answered the call at every step so far. I'm holding
off on breaking her to shot & fall until after this season is over. She's running Derby
stakes in AKC trials and this fall she already has a first, second & third. She got her Puppy points
last spring.

Oh yeah- we're birdhunting (Grouse & Woodcock) as well as some waterfowl........

I'm pretty sure Chuck trained and handled both Ace and Hemi to their Master titles and said they were two of the nicest dog's he's ever had in. I don't know that I'm ready to pull the trigger on another puppy yet...someone's gotta go if I do and if I'm not careful the wife will say its me!!!
