Retirement with a bang

Post by Wildweeds » Mon Apr 20, 2009 8:55 pm

This past weekend was the end of the line for my 7 year old field champion,I'd decided enough was enough and attended the trial.Under duress I was goaded into running him in the amateur gundog stake,I'd only run the dog twice in a trial before and placed him once and made it clean the other time.He ran me around the course and all I had to do was flush his birds on four finds, one being a covey. He won the amateur and went 2nd in the open limited with 6 finds.I thought about it afterwards and found it to be a fitting way to hang it up on a high note.
