Kansas Hunt Test Brag

Post by Coveyrise64 » Tue May 01, 2007 9:04 pm

Made it to the Sunflower GSP/Southern KS Britt Club Hunt Test this past weekend and ran my 2yr old GSP in her first SH Test. The temps were pretty tough on the dogs but it was great opportunity to pick up four placements. After I ran my first brace I thought I’d made a big mistake. Came back that afternoon though to pick up a placement and then put two more on the card on Sunday. Ended up going 3 for 4 in the Seniors.

Congrats to Parshal, another forum member, and his GSP male. They went 4 for 4 in MH, super nice dog and handler.

Awesome! Is this one of those Test where 2 Clubs get together to offer "Double" Test in 1 weekend? I'd love to try that with our Test with another Club, just not sure of how to manage it......

Yep, two clubs, two seperate test areas, and different judges each day. It can get a little chaotic with call backs but the running order on one course was MH, SH, JH. On the other course it was JH, MH, SH to keep someone from going back to back. Lunch is provided on the grounds for a donation, stopping only long enough to eat, actually it starts about 11:30 and you eat when you can. The only real neccessity is a place large enough so everyone can park in the same location with bird fields going different directions, plenty of volunteers, and a couple of port-a-johns. Handlers and dogs were there from KS, OK, TX, LA, MO, CO, NE and possibly some other areas I didn't notice. I even had an opportunity to my MH GSP as a bye dog in two braces. When I wasn't on the course I was planting birds. Needless to say I slept good Saturday night. Heck of a weekend though.........it doesn't getting any better than hanging out with the dogs.

Priceless...

My thanks to the Sunflower GSP Club and the Southern KS Britt Club

I was there too!!!! They put on a great hunt test because the volunteers work so hard. It was warm, but we did well. I had 4 dogs running in Juniors. Ran 9 times and brought home 7 ribbions. The first two braces Saturday were pretty tough as many of the birds flew out of the bird field before we got there, but that's the breaks. It's really nice to be able to run so many legs in one weekend. Thanks again to the Sunflower GSP and Southern Kansas Brit. Club for a great weekend!!!
