Tejas Bandit's Southern Belle finished her AKC championship today with a win in the Open Limited Gun Dog at the GSP of Colorado trial. Did it the hard way on the call back, first pointing a bird that was not the planted bird. Then having three missed shots once the planted bird was pointed and flushed plus having to remain on point while a bird could be found to be thrown. Belle will be two and a half years old the first week of the GSPCA Nationals. She finished 2011 as the number three GSPCA ranked in puppy/derby dogs defeated.
Perhaps most of all, she showed her soft mouth last winter when she released my wife's cockatiel unharmed upon command after scooping it out of the air when it escaped from its cage. Man, that was a close one.
On a lesser note Tejas Maverick Comanchero (Bruiser) followed up a Derby win at the GSP of Idaho trial with a second in the 19 dog Derby Classic field at the NGSPA Hun Classic last weekend.
