Wow. Of all the brags I have read on this board, that is undoubtedly the biggest, that and Ayre's graduation. A big, real life accomplishment. My dad, believe it or not, was a cardiac surgeon who also had a PhD in Biochemistry. I used to spend Saturday's in his lab.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I am so proud of that little woman! Her research was centered around a new vaccine for breast cancer. They are having some success, but it is hard to finish the clinical trial as willing patients are few and far between. Anyhow, thank you all for the kind words!

I have spent many days with her in her lab and vivarium helping out any way that I could. I've moved gas tanks, cleaned examining tables, recorded data, and other small things. So, I feel you there.

I got to clean the very old style dialysis machines that had been adapted for my father's experiments, just big galvanized tanks with a large roller drum. they were cleaned with ascetic acid, which is how I learned there is a whole step up in "strength" from vinegar. you did not want to get the stuff on you for a second. it was fun to do, and as you have discovered, having the opportunity to help out gives you an extra insight on the labor and sweat the candidate goes through to get there. again, congratulations. wouldn't it be wonderful if she found, or contributed to a cure.

I have a hard time finding willing participants for my breast research also, so I can understand.

On a serious note, big grats.
My wife is on the last year of her masters.
It can be a very stressful time for the entire family so I can only imagine your excitement and probably relief.

You betcha! It would be wonderful to contribute to a cure like that. That is what has drawn her to that field. It is also what will push her towards teaching.

I don't know who is more relieved, her or me! Now it's time for gainful employment = more toys!  Seriously......
