New JH
Ok, he finally proved it to me. Justus finished his JH title today.
These past two weekends he has been stellar out in the field and he handled wonderfully for me. In four runs, 11 finds, he broke on the blank pistol on only one bird (the first). The rest he held until I moved him on.
This is my first dog and the first title I've ever put on a dog, so it's pretty exciting.
Starting March 18 he runs for Senior Hunter. We'll see what the rest of the spring hunt test season brings.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Congrats on a job well done! Addictive isn't it! And it is said that JH is such a waste  I'd say you've been recruited!

Thanks for all the congrats!
The week of training between the two hunt test weekends he started honoring by himself (without me woah'ing him) and he aggressively retrieved a cripple that ran around on him. Yeah, we probably could have skipped JH and went right to SH (judges even told me so the first weekend), but he and I both got some invaluable experience with the hunt test game so I'm glad we didn't.
Not a waste at all, and yes, I'm absolutely hooked now. Not stopping Justus until there's a MH behind his name.
The first weekend I was really anxious that he'd want to run and play, despite all the work we'd done to prevent that. I was also nervous that he wouldn't flip the switch in his head and turn on the hunt mode. He sure proved to me that I was just sweating the small stuff.AHGSP wrote:And it is said that JH is such a waste  I'd say you've been recruited!

Kinda late, but I finally got the pics in (it wasn't my camera).
This isn't a brag on the JH title now, it's a brag on how well my dog posed for the camera.
I had a lot of help with the pic. It's amazing what a pair of orange gloves and a couple stray phesant tailfeathers will do to a dog.
