A couple of hot, dry, very windy and very dusty brags.

Post by Tejas » Mon Feb 09, 2009 12:02 am

First, my three year old bitch Tejas Magnum's Tequila Sunrise (Sunny) won a five point major (34 starters) Open Gun Dog stake at the GSPC of San Antonio this weekend that finished her AKC Field Championship. All of Sunny's points have been accumulated in broke dog horseback stakes, no juvenile points, and she stood at number three in Open Gun Dog ranking points for 2008 through September in the last issue of the Shorthair Journal.

Second, my brother's dog "Boy" out of our bitch Jazz and Hud won the Derby at the same trial in his third Derby stake. Kudos from me to Nancy Coffelt who bred Sunny and to Rodger Barton and I who saw fit to breed Jazz and Hud. Huge Kudos to Dennis Brath who has trained and handled Sunny to all her placements and to my brother Wayne who takes such good care of all our dogs. A special shout out goes to Eldon Hongo who did an outstanding job of scouting Sunny in the stake.

As to the hot, dry, windy and dusty part of the brags. Temps this weekend were in the 80's, winds were steady at 25mph gusting to 35, it's bone dry in South Texas and I washed enough dirt off to plant corn. Despite the conditions, there was some excellent work by many dogs.

Congrats Ken on Sunny's finishing this past weekend and Boy's placement as well.. Keith arrived down there safe and sound yesterday late afternoon, went fishing today and thinking he'll try to go tomorrow as well before he gets in the saddle to judge the NGSPA Region 7 Open Shooting Dog Championship and the All Age Championship. I look forward to him being back home around 1 pm on Saturday.
I'll try to get updates from him as to who all has ran ect..... to post. we'll see if he'll spill some info each day.
Congrats again.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Yeah, Eldon told my brother "you better watch out, you get that first blue ribbon and you might be bit."

Incidentally, the Boy dog is out of the little bitch you sold me out of Magnum and Cleo. He can flat fly.

Thanks for the congrats and back to you on Bullet. I will tell you like I told Nancy, sometimes when I'm writing those checks I'm tempted to call you up to say darn you anyway.

   That is funny Ken!! I understand that! I am glad those dogs are doing so well for you! I wish we could have gotten a couple more out of Magnum before we lost him! Charlie bought Cleo from us being bred to him, and has had good luck with the pups he sold out of that litter. Keep up the good work! And blame Charlie more than me ha ha :P :P

Ha! Well Ken we need to get that bitch up here and breed her to Bullett before he gets too much longer in the Tooth. Unfortunately neither of the Cleo daughters I kept would breed!

Dave's bitch Dixie (CleoXMert) is giving birth to a litter right now out of Duke though and guess what I have coming as a stud fee....

Congrats again and blame Nancy, after all it's all her fault I got into this as well!

Gee thanks Charlie   LOL! I am glad you all have had success with the dogs! And it doesn't take much for that trial bug to bite you in the rear!!! Good luck with continued success.

Sunny followed up her AKC win with a Runner-up Champion win in Open Shooting Dog in the Region 7 Championship. Not a bad week.
