So what is the advantage of more calories per cup?

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

The more calories per cup you can get from a food the more you;ll ahve to burn ...higher cal also the less you'll need to feed
When we were back in Ohio small town we ran out of the food we feed we had about a week supply of Pro Plan performance from what we had gotton from trials...Dogs were not holding up as well on that but did way better then when we went to the feed store when we ran out of that stuff also and the guy talked us into this JUNK from Buckeye feeds some super pro kennel stuff 450 Kcal per cup and oh the classic hard poop ...Well we feed about 2-3 cups fo the food we normal feed per dog maintain great stamina great...strarted to feed this stuff bought 3 40 pound bags had to feed about 8 cups literally and dogs were losing weight and had even less energy ...hey but the poop was solid...whoooppiie but there was ALOT of solid poop ....
So yes I it is good to ahve a high calorie and usable food to help maintain your dogs and give them something they can burn and last I checked calories are what a body burns for energy
nice to see another food that is up there in what it has to offer a body to burn...
Like the food we feed and have no plans on changing unless something drastically changes with what we are feeding now
Also another question approx how much is this per bag?

Knine,
I understand what calories are but my question is why is it better to feed 2 cups of feed a day compared to three cups a day. The dog feels more satisfied with the higher bulk and the only difference would be if the dog is eating all it can and still isn't getting enough calories. I always here the answer that the dog eliminates a lot less but we both know the difference is small between 2 or 3 cups and the number of piles is probably the same. I think we are going too far with the calories per lb and need to be concerned with other aspects of the dogs life and nutrition.

when a body can get what it needs ...the body doesn't trigger a hunger response
A person can eat 10 cups of celery and feel full but the body will continue to crave food as celery has little to no calories
Our dogs have been doing well with what and How we feed ..living to 14 plus years many of them...
So ....no poop hype ...just give then the food which will give them the calories they need to run and excersise
I can tell when a food is doing my dogs well or not...Hvae tried pro plan performance to others...
so far what we ahve been feeding the dogs ahve done the best one and can feed less and they maintain...Feeding a kennel full of dog you learn real fast what foods are better....
I do not see anything about the food listed which is bad either....
People need to understand the by products are not beak feather hooves and hide...it is the cleaned inners which are better protein source and FYI also has trace natural sources of glucosamine....
Your junk foods are ones that have more grains and fillers and do not identify sources of meat...fill with sugar to get the dog to eat the junk may as buy some of the stuff and pour in your breakfast bowl and add milk
anyways...I will stick to what we feed but it is nice to know where there is some high calorie type foods which maybe good in a fix...hellof a lot better the beneful or dog chow from the corner store

No one was trying to change what you feed. I just asked a simple question and it wasn't answered.
I will take issue with your filler comment till you tell us what ingredient in a feed is a filler.
I've been where you are with a kennel full of dogs and I too know what works and what doesn't. Everyone has their favorite food but as you are aware, most have a different one that they feed and all for the same reason. It fills their needs and provides the nutrients that their dogs, whether trial or show dogs, need to be in top condition.
Pretty much the same arguement as to the best car and everyone has an opinion but all are different there too.

That is a much to simplistic assessment of satiety. There are several pathways other than gut fill that play into the feeling of fullness. The interaction of fats and proteins on Neuropeptide Y are intersting as is the presence of Leptin protein.
