indoor/outdoor kennel set ups

Post by birdogg42 » Mon Mar 14, 2022 6:36 am

looking for ideas as far as indoor/ outodoor kennels. im in southeast Mo so the weather could be 10 degrees at night and 65 the next day.
i have a block building that will have 4- 5x5 runs on the inside 5x15 on the outside.
was thinking about laying block on both the inside and outside 2 8IN block tall. just to keep the kennels from getting pi$$ed on.
was looking for pictures of kennel setups and do and dont's.

thanks
mike

16" block wall definitely is a plus. 4 or6" blocks should be adequate. It makes them a little harder to clean. But worth it especially on the inside.....Cj

I have 4" blocks set between the outdoor kennel runs. The divider wall is 3 blocks high with wire above and they are 12 feet long. After 30 years the urine and cleaning chemicals have caused some deterioration of the mortar at the base (probably accelerated by the freeze thaw cycles of our weather) to the point where they will need to be replaced sooner than later. If I replace with blocks I will be using standard 8" blocks and not the 4" - the narrow blocks didn't create a sturdy enough wall.

The last one I did I used 4" blox 2 courses pinned to the slab with 1/2" rebar core filled and top with a 4" solid block. It is by far the best we have had.
If I did a new one I think I would pour the walls.........Cj

I was going to fasten the bottom course of the block with rebar in the corners of each block incase if i sold the place and moved then the building could be used for something other than a kennel.
what kind of dog doors do you guys use or which ones to stay away from?
