Hi there my name is Alf, I live in New Zealand, I am 63 years old and have been hunting since I was 9, I mostly hunt deer and have hunted extensively in Australia and New Zealand. I have been using Dogs as indicators for many years now, stating with G.S.P s' then G.S.P cross Boarder Collies, and now training a full Boarder Collie. I train these dogs to walk just in front of you around 5 yards, to find deer and point when close in thick bush.

Here is a video of my two year old dog Mistie, Here she is about a year old learning to track and indicate fresh deer tracks.
The first is her tracking a Red deer stag and the second is her getting close to a deer, we ended up spooking this one because of the noisy ground cover and thick bush, but good training regardless.

Here is a video of my newest dog Tyne he is a one year old full blood Border Collie, here he needs to be calm and steady, doing really well especially when the deer breaks.

No cjhills no shooting in those videos, It is an area walking distance from my home, happens to have a few Red Deer in it, makes for good training but not a great area to hunt due to dry leaves under foot, not too bad after a good rain though.
