Re: Thank you sweet girl
Sharon,
So sorry for your loss, it only takes one look at that picture to tell she was a special one. She sure was a lucky dog to end up in your care.

So Sorry.
No it sure doesn't get easier.
Might be it even gets harder as we get older.
Again, so sorry you've lost an old friend.

Re: Thank you sweet girl
You haven't lost her Sharon, she is firmly ensconced in your memories and she will be waiting at the gate to the next field when you get there wondering why you took so long. Look carefully and you will see the big smile on her face as she dashes off after another bird.
Re: Thank you sweet girl
So sorry. It does get harder as we get older. Time to get a new pup and it may be more fantastic than the last dog. Every dog creates different wonderful memories.

Re: Thank you sweet girl
I know that you can't see me,
but trust me I'm right here.
Although I'm up in heaven,
my love for you stays near.
I wish that I could make you see
that Heaven indeed is real.
If you could see me run and play
how much better you would feel.
But our loving God has promised me
that when the time is right,
you'll step out of the darkness and
meet me in the light.

No... it does not get any easier.
I hope it never does get easier for either you or I, because if it does, it is we who have truly lost something.
They give us everything they have and only ask to be a part of our lives in return.
They do make a hole in your heart, don't they? But as long as we remember, they are not truly gone.

Thank you for your kind words ; it makes it much easier.
Yesterday I was at the store considering a Senior dog food; last night she was gone . Enjoy every day friends ; you often never know when it might be your loved one's last day.
Tessa's daughter and I are off to the woods. It won't be the same , but..........
for your education ..... Out of the blue Tessa had a tremendous seizure . It went on until we got to the emergency vet clinic.
At 13 8/12 I didn't opt for MRI 's etc ., but the vet said that when an old dog has a big seizure ( never having had them before ) it is 99% of the time due to a brain tumor . No signs of a brain tumor before that.

Just remember the happy times you had with her. So sorry.
Re: Thank you sweet girl
Went through the exact same scenario with a 7 year old dog - tumor as you have described was the suspected culprit and there was simply no way to know before hand.
..it was surreal
Very sorry for the loss of your dog

Re: Thank you sweet girl
Im so sorry for your loss. I saw this shortly after losing one of my dogs and it made perfect sense.
"Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”
The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

It's always tough to lose a dog. That is a great picture.

We just lost a nice setter that we bred and raised so I think I know how you feel. From your photo your dog looked like the sweetest ever. So sorry for your loss. Bill

Sorry for your loss. It's always hard
Re: Thank you sweet girl
Sorry Sharon. Went thru the same thing at 13 1/2 w my first setter while I was in vet school. That was the guy that caused me to convert from a ep guy to a staunch llewellin guy. They both had a great, long life although not long enough and only suffered a very short time at the end. We can't ask for much more than that for ourselves or our pets. Hope you took lots of pics over the last 13+ yes. That certainly helps me focus on the good times.
Re: Thank you sweet girl
I'm so sorry Sharon. They all take a piece of your heart when they go, some a bigger piece than others. She looks like a special girl. You were lucky to have each other. Hugs from afar.

Aw Sharon, I just saw this thread. You are surrounded by sympathy from every one of us. We all get a turn at this, and we all dread the day, and it just gets harder each time, doesn't it? I know how special she was for you and send heartfelt condolences.

Re: Thank you sweet girl
I never consider A dogs passing a loss. I consider them a gift which you can only keep for a limited time and then it must be returned. We had to put our 16 year old dog down this summer, I miss her, but I am not sad she made our life better and we gave her a good life. She is not lost we still remember her every day...........Cj

I'm so sorry for your loss Sharon..
Beautiful girl you have there.
No, it doesn't get any easier as we age, yet I keep accumulating puppies as older ones pass...
Not sure if I am selfish or giving? Guess I'll have to keep trying in order to sort that out.
