Flying pup to Canada from TX

Post by hi-tailyn » Fri May 09, 2014 6:25 pm

This will be my first at shipping outside the USA. Is there any extra health certificates that are needed for pup to make this trip?
I normally ship United/Continental with their climate controlled cargo area. They fly in any temperature.
Anyone having experience with this that can give some pointers?

Thanks Sharon for the info. Not as hard as I thought it could be.

If this is the first pup from the US your Canadian buyer has bought, you might mention to him that in order to register with the CKC, he will have to register the pup first with the AKC and get a certified 3 generation pedigree from AKC. He will then have to send in copies of those with his app to the CKC(microchip number as well). I've sold 4 pups to Canada and it is really fairly easy to do(although I haven't sold any in Canada in the last 5 years, so I don't know if much has changed).

The people on this forum are AWESOME!

Where else can you get a question like this answered?

Well done.

I would make sure a receipt goes with the dog. I had two go to Canada in January. I sent a receipt and still had Canadian Customs call me to verify the purchase amount of the pups.

Also have you contacted United about flying the dog. They only fly dogs into 4 airports in Canada, and of course none of them were within 8 hours of where my pups were going.

Planed to use United Cargo, as they do go to Ontario Canada which is where I want to go. But they don't a same day flight from layover in Chicago overnight then fly out early next morning to Ontario. Extra $100 for overnight fee.

Does any one know of another airline that flies to Ontario Canada from the Dallas.TX area?
