Ripped toenail

Post by jbwardfamily » Thu Jan 30, 2014 7:52 pm

My Brittany pulled her toenail back and it bled a little bit. She won't put any weight on the foot. How long until it heals? She is all of a sudden very affectionate and clingy.

I would suggest that you check the entire digit, not just the toenail. It is possible the dog sprained or dislocated or even broke the toe. Not much you can do about it anyway, but if it is swollen or especially if it looks twisted, you might want to get it checked out.

It doesn't seem to be twisted or broken or swollen. She only gets squeamish when I mess with the nail. I'll see how it looks in the morning. Thanks.

My older GSP has has bad nails usually they heal up in a day or 2 if it gets infected rinse in peroxide and spray with VAP.

Her nails have got a lot better since I put her on daily salmon pills.
