Pros and Cons for control joints in a 12x22 concrete pad?
Just had a pad poured and contractor is recommending control joints cut in the pad 1" deep. My thoughts are that it is going to be wet almost everyday with me washing kennels and the joints would most likely fill up with nasty unless they are easy to hose out.
Be interested in anyone's experience.
My current pad is 12x16 and I have not had a crack over 8 years.

Problem solved...forgot about caulk/sealer for the joints.

Yep , put some rubber concrete caulk in the joint cuts.

Actually it is a Polyurethane caulk self leveling very tough.
You only need one joint in that slab cut at 11'-0"
Then seal with a green concrete sealer at least two coats maybe even three depending on how the surface texture is.
