EGSPC Walking Puppy.

Couldn't help myself. Had to post these after the running today. We had three junior handlers run puppies today. The first brace that went out were two young ladies that had some pretty big running puppies to keep up with. I don't know how much time was spent watching the pups because they were almost two cute to take your eyes off. They definitely seemed to run those little pups with ease. There scouts on the other hand seemed to have there hands full. Here is a pic of them.

In the second brace my lovely little princess broke the trial ice with our little girl. Bama turned six months on the 3rd and ran here first time today. It took Emily a few minutes to gain her confidence but she did a great job with the pup. I was impressed with both of them and the smile still seems to be somewhat glued to my face. The pup reached out further today than she has yet and I can't wait to set her off tomorrow in the open from the horse. I am in hopes that she spreads out a bit further yet. With a few minutes left in our brace Bama locked right up and held for a second then relocated and locked it up again. I couldn't get my phone out quick enough but had a young little hen held up in the bush right in front of her. Emily walked in and flushed and Bama gave a little chase but stopped and then came off the bird with the whistle. I have to say I am very proud of them both and the last words Emily said to me as we put the pup back on the stake, " Dad, you gotta get me into more of these. That was so cool and a lot of fun." I have created a little monster after my own heart.

That is great!!! Maybe all of them doing hunter's gun dog should sit up and listen. Get them young and bring them on with it as a way of life. Young girls eventually, hopefully bring in boy friend's and young boy eventually bring in girl friend's. I have a pup coming this summer and a 10 yr old grand daughter.

Truly awesome, man. I wish more people put out an active effort to get younger folks involved with it.

Thanks for posting Joe. That's my 7 yr old daughter Alana standing next to my pup who couldn't wait to break away, as you can see.The gentleman, on the left, holding my pup is Anthony and that's his 7 yr old daughter Summer on the far right.

What a great time it was. All of the kids had a blast, blowing their whistles, calling the pups, which by the way, we're both named Roxy in this brace! Just imagine the added fun that was....Roxy come Roxy come lol!!

I did forget to mention the roxy part. I kept asking which pup was roxy, then found out they both were. It was a great time and I truly enjoyed seeing the little ones run the pups. I really hope we can get more of the clubs to push for these stakes at the Setter club. I know we will be running the next three in a row. Look out Vislas and Brits, here we come!!!

Rob,
It was great getting to meet your little one. Her and Emily had fun hanging out while you judged. Hope they get to compete again real soon.

Joe

I have to give the EGSPC club LOTS of credit! They ordered nice big participation rosettes for the kids in the event they didn't get a placement (they ALL placed!), so no one would be left out. The kids were absolutely adorable! The parents were run ragged! And Ed (the other judge) and myself just giggled through the entire stake! It was a really fun time.
