I'm curious as to the feelings of the members here, as I know many are very active in the various Testing and Trial venues. While my particular question has most direct effect for Trialers, I welcome any and all comments and opinions.
To explain:
So, I was looking at the AKC "ALL BREED" Gun Dog ranking this afternoon and I was struck by what I thought were anomalies of Breed Rank. So I took a little bit of time and just double checked my knowledge of some of the names of owners and dogs to verify if I was correct in thinking which Breed had an awful lot of the top spots, just in the Top 10. Lo and behold, I was correct, so I started looking at each of those individual dogs Trial Records, thinking it likely they must have had more opportunities to run in Trials and found out that wasn't the case. What I found was, those dogs that were up there in the ranks had a VERY LARGE percentage of their Wins in Closed Breed Stakes/Trials, limited to only their Breed. Being completely honest, this kinda pi$$ed me off that Wins and 2nd placements in 5 point Major Closed Breed Stakes were being used to determine Rank in All Breed rankings
Now it's been said time and again on this forum that why on earth would we want X Breed to act and run like Y Breed and I agree with that, but I 1000% DO NOT agree that Wins or CH points worthy Placements in Closed Stakes should for 1 NY minute qualify someone to say that their dog is All Breed Ranked, that sure as he!! was not All Breed earned.
What say you?
Wins in Closed Trials counting toward ALL BREED Rank?
Wins in Closed Trials counting toward ALL BREED Rank?

Re: Wins in Closed Trials counting toward ALL BREED Rank?
Closed breed stakes should count for the breed in question but not for the over all. Seems pretty simple

Fuzz,
You have to run a report through AKC's "Top Dog" for $4.00
Here: https://classic.akc.org/store/reports/topdogs/index.cfm
I'd do a copy and paste, but it won't work and gets all mixed up. You have to select "Gun Dog", "Dogs and B!tches" and "PREVIOUS Calendar Year" for 2012.
