GARMIN ASTRO 320 Owners

Post by prairiefirepointers » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:38 pm

For those of you whom already own this, I have a question...

I am fixing to order one on Monday. My question is, Can SportDOG collars be used with it? The ASTRO has 1" wide straps and the SportDOG Receivers utilize a 3/4" strap.

Feedback Please!

THANKS!! :D

I'm pretty sure it'll work like that, but I've found I like mine seperate. Makes it easier to position them correctly.

This is, naturally, why Garmin/Tritronics came out with the Alpha.

The Astro DC40 collar has holes punched in it and the receiver is fixed to the collar with a clamp & screws. If the Sportdog only has slots big enough for a 3/4" collar, then a 1" collar will not work. The big problem is the e-collar and GPS both need to be on the bottom, so you'll have to have them on separate collars anyway.

I'm with Doug - I like having them on separate collars so that's fine with me. But if you really want GPS and e-collar on the same collar strap, then you'll want to get the Alpha instead of the Astro - just costs more money is all, but you can't use the Alpha for tracking in a field trial if that matters to you.

I actually solved the issue last night after I posted it, but I fell asleep and forgot to have the thread deleted.

It will work with my Sportdog Unit. I thought about buying the Alpha, but I just bought my SD ProHunter 4 dog unit last year and I really like it.

MOD - You can now Delete this if you so wish.
