show me your set-up 3-5 dogs

Post by laxhcky4 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 9:05 pm

What does everyone like for a kennel inside a topper? I'm going to be putting a kennel inside and debating whether I want a 3 dog box with storage or a 4-5 dog box. I don't want to take up the whole bed and want to make the most use out of the space. Thoughts, comments, pictures well appreciated, Thanks!

i built this 4 dog topper from a standard ARE shell. Truck is an F350 with 6'8" bed. There is room under the dog boxes, and at the rear.

Whew! That's a nice set up, man! You ought to go into business and offer to make those for hire.

I bought a utility topper yesterday. Got it for $125 at the local junk dealer's place. It's a little rough around the edges with the weather stripping coming off, but it's strong as can be. I'll probably end up putting it on the pickup during the summer and just let the dogs pile in and hang out back there while we truck down the road. In the summer I have a little two-dog box made of sheet metal that is painted white. It can be 100' out and the inside will be on the cool side. That blows my mind. Doesn't matter anyhow, the dogs are usually riding shotgun with me. I'd like to get another topper and tear it down to the frame then cover it with fabric to use during the summer.

The doors?

Did you make them?

Where to buy them?

Do your dogs just leap up into their kennels?

The doors are available from WingWorks (www.wingworks.biz). I just boost the dogs up and they jump in. I suppose that I could make a platform to allow them to get up there by themselves.

Thanks.

This is my buddys pop top camper modified to haul his dogs,he ripped out the dinette table and built boxes that serve as a shooters bunk,he's got four on the side and one on the bottom in the back............I built the doubleskinned aluminum doors and framework for him, works real nice on weekend overnighters.
