I've noticed we got a few more from IL now.

So who is from IL and where are ya?

I'm down in Murphysboro, which is nowhere near Chicago (thank God) and where I come from it ain't flat so I'm not a "flatlander" like I was once referred to while I was in WI.

Moving from Villa Grove (Douglas County, just south of Champaign) this weekend; going back "home" to Crawford County, which is where both my wife and I are from. Crawford County borders Indiana and is just below the first "bump" on the east border of the state (the eastern border with Indiana is mostly a strait line, north and south, and doesn't verge off of that line until it meets up with the Wabash River, which then takes over as the natural border).

I'm moving from pheasant country back into quail country, though it remains to be seen whether or not there is still a viable quail population back down home, seeing as how the wild turkeys sure have moved back into the area.

I live near Louisville. Hunt a L. Setter. Looks to be more quail than usual in my area if you can go by the numbers of pairs you see along the country roads.

From Ottawa, Il. Here in LaSalle county, right off interstate 80.
All we have here is deer country in the river bottoms. hard to find any pheasant land to hunt round here so I go south...

Pittsfield, IL, Pike county. I am a southern IL transplant, though. Grew up in Franklin county (Benton/Thompsonville) hunting quail. Still a few coveys around home. We should plan an IL training day and all get together sometime.

Home is West Chicago, DuPage County. 30+ miles west of Chicago.
No wild pheasants here for at least 30-40 years?
I've hunted pen pheasants in Dixon, though. Pretty much the only game in town anymore.

Hi- Thanks for the welcome.
Dave, I got your email and replied- maybe it ended up in junk mail?
Anyhow, I am getting a dog early this spring.
Are there any NAVHDA or other events I can go to sometime to see what they are about?
Thanks!
Ingrid

Ingrid, go to this site for the chicago area NAVHDA chapter

www.illinoisnavhda.org

It looks like they do most of their training at the Seneca Hunt Club, which is about 12 miles east of me. They also do the Utility and NA tests at the Des Plaines Conservation Area. There is a Northern chapter that I can't get info on because their webpage is down. There is one in the Quad Cities. They do a lot of work in Iowa though since it is right on the border.
Go to www.navhda.org and look at the chapter locator map to get website and phone information.

I was thinking of joining the chapter when I get a GSP sometime soon.

Have a farm in Hardin County Illinois (almost Kentucky)and it is my getaway place. I find a lot of solace there. 6 bucks on the wall in the past 10 years; a 10 pointer, 2 9 pointers and 3 beautiful 8 pointers.

Hey to the guy in Benton, might have pigeons, send me a PM
