BranchedOaks in march

Post by markj » Fri Feb 03, 2012 8:11 pm

I see they are doing atrial. I am wondering what I need to do to enter a pup in the puppy and derby stuff and what does the dog need to demonstrate? Can I walk for this or is a horse needed? Is it best to do it myself or seek out a pro? money is very tight so I was hoping to get it done myself just t osee if she has potential or not.

There is actually a trial at Branched Oaks every weekend in March.
GWP OF EASTERN NE - MARCH 3-4
GSPC OF LINCOLN - MARCH 10-11
NE VIZSLA CLUB - MARCH 17-18
RINGNECK GSP - MARCH 24-25

The schedule for Branched Oaks can be found on the GSP Of Nebraska's website (http://www.negspc.com/) under "Upcoming Events".

I think most Amateur juvie stakes are walking, even in horseback trials.

If there's one every weekend, go to the first couple and observe the stakes your thinking about running in. Probably will be able to find someone more than willing to help you out. That way you'll have some idea what to expect in the next two trials.

According to the AKC events page--- The GWP club of Eastern NE. trial on 3/3 is an all walking trial. Also the GSP Club of Lincoln trial on 3/10 is an all walking trial. If you go to the AKC event page and get on the NE trials. If you click on each club it will list the stakes run and if the are walking only stakes. Good luck :)

By rule, all AKC Amateur puppy/derby stakes are walking handled.

Thanks for the verification. Regardless of what I do, AKC's site gives me the 2/12 Conformation calendar for any query. Gotta love dumbphones.

Anyone here in the Omaha gsp club? Their website isnt up to date as far as meetings go. I have been to these in years past but never run a pup in derby or puppy. I met brushbustin (Robert) there a few years ago but financial stuff kept me out of it till this year. I might give Art Armbrust a call and ask him about it if I cant get the info I need here, I see Joe Fingerlin is the pres now? He had a very nice dog I saw run for his MH, also saw Odysys Fritz there awhile back too. My bud Doug usually sells the quail for the events so I am not a rookie, just on the pup stuff. Sold the horse awhile back too so I may have to get another one if I plan on doing the FT stuff myself. Maybe I will run her the 10th.

Anyone plan on going?

The linked worked for me.
I checked it before I posted it.

Mark, can you make it down to Neises Ranch, Howard, KS on 2/18-19/2012? Sunflower GSPC club is having a Walking Field Trial and I will be there with Bones. Juvenile stakes are all natural ability and you the handler are along for the ride. Puppy stakes are all about run and going to cover looking for birds. No birds are put out for Puppy stakes it is the run and use of wind and cover the dog is judged on. Derby stakes are just like Junior Hunt Tests. Dog must find and point a bird long enough for the judge to see. Dog cannot be placed if no bird is pointed. Run is very important.

Mark

I sent in entries to the GWPCof Eastern NE Walking trial scheduled for March 3-4. Barring unforseen circumstances I plan to be at that one.
