vets waiting room

Post by pinebrookkennel » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:54 pm

needed to vent.
So I went to the vet friday after work and had a nice time in the waiting room    . Has anyone else had the urge to slab the sheet out of a dog owner. Between the yappin ankle bitter and the out of control lab there wasn't much room in the office. Thankfully they were checking out.
Ok, to my point do you keep to yourself or do you chat it up even if you feel like slapin the owner of the out of control dog.

I put my leashed dog on a stay and mind my own business.

O ya, I no all about that, I work at a vet hospital. I work as a kennel assistant now, Im going to school to become a registered vet tech, and I also do some receptionist work, and I have seen it all! From the guy who thinks its some kind of sin to put his intact male on a leash, to the guy who ripped his dogs nipples off thinking they were ticks, i firmly believe people need to take some sort of test before owning a dog.

If you let your dogs run wild enough, the vet then allows you to use the back door with no wait.
Works for me.

You mean when the crazy dog lady lets her dog run up to mine and I step in between? She says " What? Your dogs are not social?" and I say " No, they are. But they are not rude."

Drives me cray. Luckily my Vet has dogs put in rooms immediately and there is a separate exit door. Never an issue.

I leave the dog in the truck and go in and talk to anyone & everyone and then when it's our turn I go and get him and bring him in. Rather then deal with cat's & dog's and people with the pup in a confined environment. Less stressful for me ! :D

Max, if you leave your animals in the vehicle here in California these radicals will have you in handcuffs and a criminal record before you even see the vet. Sad state of affairs.

There were 3 little dogs in my vets office the other day all barking at each other, with stupid owner chatter the whole time..I walked out and told the receptionest to get me in my car when it was my turn...Before I slapped someone...

O ya, I got a ton of stories like that. It's hilarious, but kind of sad @ the same time. The crazy cat ladies are the worst.

Back in the day when there was only one vehicle in the family & a car was the norm, dogs in the trunk was probably the most common way.I know that's hard to imagine but a much more simple way of life. One vehicle, one job,& in alot of cases only one drivers liscense but MORE FAMILY activities!! :D

Vet -- What is wrong with your pup today.
Owner -- Umm, I ripped off my dogs nipples.
Vet -- What, How did that happen.
Owner -- I thought they were ticks.
Vet -- Head shacking.

Same here. I always hated to put the dogs in the trunk till one time when they were really wet and muddy so I made them ride back there going home. After that one time I couldn't open the trunk without them all jumping in wanting to go hunting. Guess they liked it better than I did. Remember one time we went to a sheep sale and hauled two ewes and a ram home in the back after we took the seat out and put it in the trunk. You had to do what you had to do. And we all lived. Surprising!!!

Unfortunately, it was worse than that! he was convinced they were ticks, WE had to tell him,''...ummm,sir... those arent ticks...those are his nipples...your gonna need some antibiotics for that.'' bahaha!

Last time i was at the vet, we had a little black three legged dog with dominance issues. so i just looked the other way, and happened to drop both of my dogs leashes at the same time. Have you ever seen a three legged dog run on sealed concrete? Hilarious. the uptight lady did not appreciate it however.

What annoys me the most is people who think it is okay to walk right up and get in my dogs face. Now with my gsps this not an issue, but when I had my big American Bulldog... well he wasn't terrible but he was not friendly by any means.

Shocks me how people act toward dogs they know nothing about. Heck this goes for lots of places not just the vet.

They sure do that with cute little Jack Russell faces. I just give the "look" - don't even think about it.
