It costs about $2.25 a loaded mile down there. Pretty pricey.

I live about 440 miles northwest of you in the Oklahoma panhandle and I know a guy who has a hay hauling company and delivers. Let me see if I can get ahold of his phone number and I will call you with it and then you can give him a call and work out the specifics.

Texas has bought all of our hay in Arkansas. It is going to be a tough year for hay prices. Time to sell some horses.

Scott, I am striking out down here. My connections here can't get any and all of the growers have already sold to Texas customers.....I will keep looking.

I'm still working on it for you. I haven't forgotten. The name of the company is P&V Hay and Cloverleaf Ranch in Goodwell, Ok. The name of the owner of the company is actually Bryan McCune but he goes by the nickname Pistol thus the P in P&V Hay. He has a number listed in the local phone book but it is a fax number rather than phone number. Trouble is around here everyone has went to strictly wireless cell phones rather than any form of landline because of the expense of our local cooperative phone company. As soon as I can get ahold of Bryan aka Pistol's cell phone or I see him I will be sure to get his cell number to you.

Making phone calls and still looking.

What are some of you using either instead of Hay or as a extender for Hay that is some what cost efficient?

$11 a 50lb bale or $120 for 900-1000lb round bale has me also looking for alternatives to hay.

Any good suggestions on what to look into or stay away from. Good or bad stories on how to survive drought.

Thanks
Scott

Daughter's boyfriend is about to have large round bales forsale in North Central Mo., anyone interested would have to arrange their own hauling.

I do believe there is a local guy here that can haul, I would just have to give you his number and you can check and work out the details.

If you can get up here you can buy a lot of hay for like 65.00 per round bale of orchard grass, has other grasses too. There is a lot of alfalfa too most just did third cutting. Prabably too far tho to offset the shipping.

Can you buy bagged alfalfa cubes? Havea a grinder wagon? you could grind up corn stalks add protein and minerals some alfalfa cubes and a little grain you might be OK for awhile. Oat straw is a feed too for horses can be ground of fed straight.
