Who would YOU like to hear from?

Post by Scott Linden » Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:59 pm

I'm working on more audio interviews and want to get some input before I start calling folks ... no sense wasting anyone's time ... so, who would you want me to interview and what would like want to know from them?

How about a panal discussion with top trainers of different breeds....ie; Rick Smith or Dave Walker talking about some the the great Brittany's of the past, Keith Gulledge about some of the best GSP's, Sherry Ray Ebert on Setters and a top Pointer trainer. How about a "real" canine nutitionist (familiar with gun dogs) talking about ..what else..proper nutrition. Last but not least, someone to talk about the Bird Dog Hall of Fame in Grand Junction, Tn. Just some thoughts. Many others would also be qualified for a panal discussion.

Is Ferrel Miller still alive? I would love to hear what he has to say about developing and breeding a top line of pointers. How about Dan Hendrickson from Phantom Kennels? Mike Logan from Bo' Darc Kennels? Craig Thompson from Ranch One kennel about the Fiddler line? How about some of the top Pointer breeders in Texas about what makes Texas Pointers different from Pointers bred and raised elsewhere.

How about some state DEC people in states like MT, SD, ND, KS and so forth talking about the wild bird population and what they are and what is being done. Also how about some guides that hunt public land and what they do to find birds and places to hunt.

Wilson Dunn, what a great idea. Would love to hear him share his memories about his business and his dogs. Several, and I mean several years ago, my wife and I were on our way back from the Brittany Nationals that were held in Rend Lake, Il. Stopped off a Dunn's to buy whatever we could. It was late in the day and I got into a lengthy conversation with Mr. Dunn. As they were about to close the store, he asked my wife and I to join he and his wife for dinner at their place. Before I could accept (gosh, I felt like I was being invited to dinner by Mickey Mantle or something) my wife said ..we'd love too, but we have other plans. We thanked him for his graciousness and went on our way. I asked my wife what our other plans were other than to have dinner, go back to the motel and return back to Texas in the morning...Like were we supposed to meet Ron and Nancy Reagan for dinner and she had failed to tell me. Anyway, she just thought it would be an inconvenience to them and felt uncomfortable. (Can you tell after 25 years, I am still slightly bitter. :D ) He had what I would say was a little "Hall of Fame" in the back of the store. I guess he started or greatly influenced something we all should be grateful for. Well I've gone on too much..But do think that's a great idea.

I would like to hear from Mark Wasserman about what he looks for when he breeds a litter, or is buying a pup from someone else. I would also like to hear about the string of National Champions he's had over the years. His success rivals Linda Nickerson's, which puts him in very elite company.
