Joplin

Over two dozen lives lost. My thoughts and prayers are with the rescuers

Lots of birddog breeders around there, too. Rescue is going to be strained.

They originally said an F3, but they will upgrade come daylight. They've got a couple of FaceBook pages set up. Listening to it on scanner right now. Eerie is an understatement.

No,

Jon and Cindy are far from there - they are in the NW part of the state - not too darn far from Iowa. Joplin is in the extreme Southwest part of the state.

Prayers sent and more needed. Yesterday A women in our church here in Panama City got a call from her son in Missouri, they were uninjured in their basement but trapped. Have not heard today how that has turned out.

This is horrible, looks like it will be classifies a F4, latest count is 89 fatalities, sadly this number will be rising, so many places in town have not been reached yet. I have much family that lives in southern MO and north Ark, luckily everybody is fine with minimal damage. A town an hour away that I hunt near was destroyed on sat. night, Reading,KS, a couple tornadoes 20 miles north of me on sat. and one passed 8 mi. south of me. Luckily these were in sparsely populated areas. Many prayers sent.

Mmmmm. My house was destroyed in the 1979 Wichita Falls Tornado. Thankfully none of my family was injured. If I remember correctly there were 90 somehing fatalities in that one....sounds like Joplin will have more and its a smaller town. My prayers go out to all affected both directly and indirectly.

Pray for them folks, more tornados are on the way to that area. Never seen a year like this but Iread of one years ago. Multiple tornados atthe same time in the south maybe?

Saw that damage S and N of Atlanta week and a half ago. Went to Kentucky to pick up a dog. We were supposed to go the week before and were going to take a leisurely trip thru Alabama, Mississippi, and Tenn. and avoid the major interstates. Glad we didn't leave that Thursday morn. Prayers for all affected.

Bad images from this. Prayers going out to all affected. Had to call friends North of there to make sure they were all ok and safe.

Latest death toll in Joplin is at 116 according to the last news report I read and unfortunately will probably be more before it is all said and done. Makes us realize how helpless we can be.

Red Cross s training folks want to go down and help, first batch from Omaha is thursday. you can also go to red cross and give up some blood and maybe a few bucks. After the Omaha tornado them folks fed us every day 15 times a day :) almost turned into a hobbit (They eat many meals if you dont know about them). Food trucks came around every hour till 11pm every day. We are in our break between spring and summer so I cant go :( and help out.

They may get more today again.

Second breakfast will get you every time. :) NOAA is calling it rough in my neck of the woods around sundown. Headin' for the hidey hole sounds real good to me.

Hunker down and stay safe. Some bottled water, candles a am radio and batteries, a 22 for varmints is in my hidy hole, hope you are all safe. Ma nature is the only thing scares me. I can handle anything man made but Ol Ma can whip up stuff unimaginable.

There are a couple of animal pages up, and Joplin Tornado Info on FB is doing a good job posting needs and contacts. The dogs should fit in the hole - they dug it!
