.209 inserts for a NEF .32

Post by gittrdonebritts » Tue May 17, 2011 7:07 pm

Has any one had any problems with the inserts used in the NEF 32 ? A friend of mine bought a set and every time he fires 1 shot it locks up and they cylinder won't spin, he has to use a pair of pliers to pull the pin out and remove the cylinder, the Gentlemen he bought them from hasn't been giving him the best customer service so I thought I'd ask the folks here. he is using the CCI primers as recommended.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated

Thanks, Joe

I have a .32 NEF with the inserts for the primers. I'm having such a problem with the inserts, that I'm considering selling the blank gun for a gun that is strictly .209 primers as most of the championships and such just require the primers. I'd hate to get rid of the NEF only to find out that I need it for the .32s.

I can't really help as I had the same problem and ended up just selling the gun. And, yes, the guy that I bought the inserts from, tried to be helpful, but in the end, really wasn't.

I had the same problem with a GunX that was specific for Winchester 209 primers. CCI primers work ok. So I think I would try Federal 209 before I sold the gun. It may be primer brand specific. One problem it did have is that the inserts I bought were too tight for the GunX cylinder and I had to take them down a little with emory paper spinning the insert in a chuck I rigged for an electric drill. That issue is probably not related to failure to cycle you are experiencing.

I have used a 209 primer pistol for quite a few years. Once I had a box that gave me the same problem. That was the only time, so I suggest trying some different primers

So apperently he has it fixed or getting fixed the Gun was brand new never fired and the firring pin wasn't worn down a bit like most older guns would be after being fired a lot so the seller is re adjusting the inserts and trying to make it work thanks for the advice everyone !
