Hunt Test Age

Post by Texrab » Wed Mar 22, 2006 6:27 am

What is a good age to enter a pup in a hunt test? I know it depends on the dog but what is the youngest some of you have seen in a junior hunt test? How about the oldest dog in a junior hunt test?

Sara had her JH before she was 7 months old.

I try to get them thru their JH prior to doing much formal training.

I agree with Honeyrun since i don't believe in training for natural ability tests. And that is what a JH is. Also see no benefit in trying to get the SH or MH titles young. After the JH take your time and enjoy.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

A pup has to be 6 months, a dog is never too old. Have fun!
