Ch. Elhew Hannabell dies

Post by ElhewPointer » Fri Feb 25, 2011 10:18 am

One of the best shooting dogs to ever breath passed away! In her career she won 20 Championships and 4 RU Champions. She also sired last years National Shooting Dog Champion, Covey Rise Oflee Amazin. I had the pleasure to watch this wonderful animal many times. Truely one of our sports great ones. A first ballot HOF. RIP Kate!

That is a one of a kind deal I bet. How many Ch. dogs did SHE SIRE

She did have quite a record and had to be one of the best, but that good?

You need to get back to your scouting and forget the reporting

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

You stick to porch cats, I mean brits, and i'll follow the pointers. Yes, like I said, one of the best shooting dogs to live! I guess you could probably state this since she has won the most Championships. I could be off base, but im pretty sure im not. Also, Hannabell was a female, so its pretty hard to be a sire. I think this is where I got the idea she had sired a litter.

You are right. Like you said she was one of the very best when you look at the over all record of both her performance and what she produced. Do you know how old she was?

O by the way, A good long tail person told me just recently:

It is just sad,

The Morgans are taking it really hard, if you know them, I think it might help for them to hear from you,

Neil can you tell us what happened to her or some of the details. I didn't think she was that old but I don't really know.

I believe she was knocking on 11 yrs old. Which is quite old for a dog that spent their life on the road. There were a lot of miles on those tires. Its crazy how her two half sisters both passed within the last 14 months. They're on the shortlist of greatest Shooting Dogs ever. A lot of good Elhew bred dogs have passed in the last 15 months.

I saw her last summer, spent the day and night with her at Blake Kukar's, she looked great but I knew she was starting downhill with cancer. Started in her breast and spread. Dr. Thomas was still running her for a few minutes almost every day, told me she had a find this week.

She was a special dog in so many ways, not just her record of wins, she was a great house dog. Her half sisters went in the HoF this year, she should go next!

Please send a note to the Morgans:

And of the 41 wins, 19 were Open Championships, of the 3 winners one is Braxton (Coveryrise AfleeAmazing), Purina Dog of the year, with 6 or 7 Championships already.

She was a great dog, sure to go into the Hall of Fame, joining her two half sisters,

I think she won 20 championships and 4 RU Ch. I believe that braxton is over 10 now. There are 2 litters by Kate that aren't even to broke dog stakes. Those numbers are sure to go up!

I heard alot of rumors a year or two ago about her being bred to Braxton. Do you know if that happened?

Do you know who the other two winners are she produced?

I believe Braxtons brother had a derby win. And probably a pup out of her and Rock Acre Blackhawk. She was bred to Braxton. Should be good pups.

While my mind plays tricks on me these days, but I think I saw Braxton as a wee pup, and I believe it was 2007 and I remember him as a Derby in 2009.

At that time Shawn was concerned about the name, but looks like he is living up to it.

You're exactly right Neil. Shawn hated it! Pretty funny now.

Take a deep breath and go back and read before you post. I was refering to Elhew pointers comment that she sired a National Champion. Was kind of funny when he told me to read before I posted when I was just quoting his post. Guess you missed it too or I'm sure you would have jumped him about it too. Sometimes you just need to lighten up and enjoy a little light hearted humor along with the knowledge these posts bring to the table. Some of our mistakes are rather humorous I think, how about you?
