The Biscuit Eater 1940 b&w move online
One of my favorite bird dog stories made into a b&w movie in 1940. I looked for years to find a copy of it and now you can see it in it's entirety online.
Enjoy...

Great Movie!!
Speaking of such, have you all read " The Old Man and the Boy" by Robert Ruark? GREAT bird hunting/dog stories in there!

They also have a remake of this movie from the 70's that uses a Pudelpointer as Biscuit Eater.

Wilson Rawls, the author of Where the Red Fern Grows, lived in Idaho Falls for a while and mentions it in the book as where Billy watches the old redbone get into the fight with the local dogs. There is a statue of young Billy, Old Dan and Ann in front of our public library.birddogger wrote:GUNDOGS wrote:

Seriously, wow..i will be sure to get there to see that one day!!..funny how movies/books can become such a part of your life because of the memories they create.. my dad read me that book when i was little, mind you, he HATED reading but knew i loved dogs so much and he loved that book with a passion..he told me one day when i was older i could have it..when i was 22 he passed away and left me a letter written on the inside of his copy of the book..for me its much more than a movie or book its a piece of my dad..its definitely my favorite movie!! .....ruthfishvik wrote:Wilson Rawls, the author of Where the Red Fern Grows, lived in Idaho Falls for a while and mentions it in the book as where Billy watches the old redbone get into the fight with the local dogs. If you get here look me up. I read the book the first time right after I graduated from college and I lived in N. Idaho where I got a Ches/Weim cross from the local pond. She roughly resembled the dogs in the book. I cried at the ending. I give that book to evey kid I know that gets into training hunting dogs.

A little off subject and not about dogs, but "The Yearling" was also an excellent and emotional read. A real classic IMO.

So gunner I have to say Thank you and I'm mad at you for putting this link up I'd never seen it before and was excited to watch it after I got back from training today and now that I watched it, I love and hate it just because of the end why can't there ever be a dog movie or a movie without a dog were something like that doesn't happen !
