How cool is that? I'm looking at one of my guys right now whose father was a Luke great-grandson and the young dog has those same eyes. I'm surprised to see the color. Luke sure didn't get much in that department from his momma.

That is actually a post card Bob Merkel gave back in 93 Mr Schuerer owned a Restaraunt in Amanna,Iowa.
Luke was the N0.1 Gun Dog in the country in 1990 handled by Bob Merkel.
That's pretty much where my kennel of dogs started from.

You will find Luke's parents there. He was the product of a half-sibling breeding and I believe his mother beat his father out of a national title, if I remember the story correctly.

Yes Luke was from a half brother & half sister (Rusty) & (Liepchen) breeding through their dam Leigton's Ace Mona.
Cajun Luke must of got his color from Rusty. :D

Cool. Thanks for sharing. Don't suppose you've got Quailridge Sundance Rusty anywhere, do you? That would give me all four Rusty sons that are in my pedigrees.

CC I sure don't but if I run across I will make sure you get it.I'm sure there are alot of old pics out there & people should share them,we like to see these old dogs that have got us where we are today.
Come on guys & ladies don't be stingy. The pink pic of Luke was an add Bob sent to me when I first inquired about breeding to him around 1993.

Haven't talked to Bob in awhile. My son used to call him the Chocolate Milk Man for his habit of drinking chocolate milk at the trials. Pat Waresk sees him often though. Got to hunt over Luke. We used to go down to IA to hunt quail along the MO border with Bob. Remember Gerald S. better than his dad. When that dog went on point, there was absolutely no question he had birds. We would walk one edge of an IA quarter section and Luke would do the other three for us.
