Threaded hole on TT transmitter....???

I thought about buying a holster for my TT transmitter, but I decided I didn't like the one they offered. Besides, my transmitter fits nicely in a pocket/pouch in my vest as it is.

I noticed on the back of the transmitter there is a little hole with a threaded brass insert. I don't see anything on the TT website for sale that would screw into that hole. I'm assuming I can go to the hardware store and find a little eye bolt to fit in there so I can attach a lanyard for extra security.

Am I assuming right?

Howdy -

Tri-Tronics added the threaded hole to the transmitter when it started the G2 line and kept it with the G2 EXP and G3 transmitters but never made any accessories that worked with it.

This Garmin clip fits http://www.gundogsupply.com/garmin-beltclip.html , but I'm not a big fan of a plastic clip in general unless you have some kind of back up in case it gets knocked off.

If you can find an eye bolt that fits, you could attach a gear keeper tether http://www.gundogsupply.com/garmin-tether.html

I would want to use some kind of "lock tight" product on it to keep it from coming unscrewed.

I just did this. I use the holster, but had the top snap come undone and had the transmitter slide out, so I was looking
for a backup to the holster strap. I wondered what the threaded hole was for, thinking a lanyard attachment, too. I emailed
Tri-tronics, and was told that it was only used by the service dept. while doing repairs.

I got a screw and a little electrical wire loop thingy, and then attached it. Then I ran a small cable tie through the loop
and around a small band on the back of the holster. Now if the snap comes undone, I still have a backup, and the transmitter
is still attached to the holster and won't slide out.

A 4-40 thread 1/4"long screw fit perfectly. +1 on using locktite on the screw.

I have walked a few hundred miles with the Avery holster clipped to my belt loop or vest, I do not like the shoulder strap that comes with them, seems like they are 7 or 8 bucks. I have one in camo and one in blaze orange:

But, I too have wondered about the little screw hole,

Sorry! Probably won't be the last. O_o

I personally do NOT use the threaded hole on any of the Tri-Tronics transmitters I have around the office.
