NAVHDA NA Test Question

I have a question about the NAVHDA NA Test:

What is considered a point in the NA test? Does the point have to be for a certain length of time? Does the dog have to be steady enough for you to be able to flash the bird?

Any info on how the "point" is scored would be appreciated.

Thanks

They are just looking for the pup to establish a point for 3 seconds or so. Just stop at the scent of the bird. You do not have to flush to have a qualified point. A bird does have to be produced. But pup can go in after the point or you can flush it. They also will let the pup chase. They like to see the "desire".

Good luck.

Thanks for the info... I figured the dog would only have to establish point, but I wasn't sure and I could not find the answer in the rules info and testing info

Ruff is right on. But, I wouldnt recommend "Flashing" the bird. May cause a rucuss with the judges and the gallery.

Sorry, just a little silly today. :)

This is the only line I could find in the test rules...
"A young dog undergoing the Natural Ability Test may break and chase after clearly establishing point without being penalized."
