How big is your GSP?

Post by txgsp » Mon Jun 14, 2010 10:07 am

Since I am in Spain studying abroad now, I have Tucker, my 9.5 month old GSP at Anderson Ranch Gun Dogs in Decatur, TX getting trained for the 2 months I'm gone. I was just thinking about how much he's grown, so now I'm curious.. How big is your GSP full grown?

I think Tucker is at about 42 lbs. right now. I know the average is around 55-70 for males, but I was just curious how big yall's dogs have gotten.

Depends on the line and the parents. You will be very pleased with them when Todd and Stacey are done with them.

I'm glad to hear that. My girlfriend just went out there this past weekend and visited him. They said he's doing well. I can't wait to get him back at the end of July.

I've always thought that the focus on bird hunting and the influence of field trialing has led to many Euro breeds becoming smaller and slighter.

Would anyone agree?

Wish I had some more recent pictures, these were taken at 9 weeks. This guy is now 9 mo. old, is a strapping 64lbs., stands 26", and there isn't an once of fat on him.

My girl is pretty small. She's coming up on 2 years now. She's more the size of a brittany than a GSP in my opinion. She ranges from 39-42 depending on activity level.

My female is right at 45lbs and is almost 2 years old. My male pup is 5 months today and tips the scales at 40lbs.

Both dogs are in my signature.

My GSP lady "Di" is making four in Aug and weighs on average 45#. Here at the farm she gets in 2-4 miles a day (looks like a race horse and runs like one-Lordy,she loves to run!) depending on the weather. Right now it is 95 and humid so her runs are being greatly curtailed.
