Looking to join a Club

Post by djc1285 » Fri Apr 02, 2010 11:51 pm

I am fairly new to the sport of bird hunting and am interested in getting more active by joining a club. I have been training my Britt pup on a preserve and have been hunting pheasants and chukars. I am from southeastern Michigan.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm sure your local Brittany club would welcome a new member. You can check here to see which is closest:

Also, check to see if there are any NAVHDA clubs close to you. You won't find any nicer and helful people, IMO. You don't have to participate in the NAVHDA tests to be a member and particapate in their training days.

DJC
Check out seminavhda.com They have a great group of people and are one of the largest North America Versatile Hunting Dog Association chapters. NAVHDA has training days listed on there web site plus all the contact peoples names and phone numbers. They have over 30 training days at Highland Field Trial Grounds.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into those. Here are some pictures of my 8 month female, Meadow. I live in Washtenaw County right now and I'm training her at Colonial Farms in Chelsea, MI.
So far she's doin pretty good, we just gotta work on holding her point a little better. As for me, I'm 24 yrs old and pretty new to bird hunting.

She is a cuttie: Check out NAVHDA.org and find a club. There are training clinics near every month except hunting and deep snow.
Welcome to the fold.

good age for you and your first pointing dog- nice looking Britt- she's pretty young to be asked to hold point for very long- I'd try to hurry and come in from in front of her-
