tough situation

Post by bean1031 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 5:57 pm

I own a Maltese that's 12 years old she was diagnosed with CHF a year ago. She has a catarack in each eye. Lost most of her hearing. Pees in the house non stop, throws up everything she eats. Skinny as a rail. My sister is extremely atached to the dog. It's come to the dogs time tho... Should we let the dog die naturaly? Put it down? Her activity levelis nothing. It will be an ugly situation if my sister wakes up with a dead dog in her bed... I guess we could put her down and say a falcon snatched her haha jk jk... But seriously what should we do? If we do put her down I want ideas on how to give her a good last day.... Her favorite thing to do is sleep

I have put down old dogs when they become incontinent or when the pain medication can no longer do the job. Doing something special om the last day, I have never considered important.
This however is a personal decision.
From your post it sounds like this should be a family decision.

that decision has to be up to you......

for me I love my animals to much to see them suffer and believe we humans are or can be more humane to our animals when they are suffering then we are allowed to be to ourselves and our loved ones
