Building a duck boat

Post by schultz's honor » Sat Jul 04, 2009 3:25 pm

Haven't been around for a while. I have been busy building a duck boat.
Made some progress today. Need to order paint so I can paint the hull before turning it back over.
Still needs a couple of coats of epoxy on the bottom and some sanding.

Filleted the keelsons today, will ribbon strip them tomorrow.
Should be ready for paint by next weekend.

Great job, How long is it? how much do you think it weighs? Will you have a motor for it? Was going to make an 16 footer this year but just had too many projects to finish and had a rig of wood ducks to carve and paint before Sept.

Very nice, is that a stitch and glue plywood boat. I wanted to build one also but could not fit it in the garage ,to much junk. I had to buy a aluminium boat.

I looked at the stitch and glue boats but opted for the hard chine construction. They just seem more durable.
