Proud Papa

Post by 3Britts » Wed Mar 18, 2009 2:31 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that my oldest will be receiving his Eagle Scout award this Saturday, March 21.
Not much more to say. He worked really hard and has been a true example of Scouting. I am very proud of all his hard work and dedication. :D

Congrats to your son and to his parents on the parenting (training) job well done!

See - being around dogs really does improve one's scouting ability! :D

Congrats! I'm a fellow eagle scout. Scouts was probably the best thing I've ever done.

3Britts -

Please accept and pass along my congratulations to your son. It one of those things that speaks to the kind of young man that your son is and the kind of man he is becoming. The discipline, focus, persistence, willingness to learn. to try new things and the determination to strive for a goal that it takes to achieve the pinnacle of scouting will serve him well in the future.

It is the attainment of one goal and it sets the stage for the pursuit and attainment of future goals.

It also speaks to the kind of values you as parents have passed on to your child. That is our real legacy.

You done good Pops. Keep up the good work.

That is great.!!
In a time when so many young boys are involved in things that will harm them, It a pleasure to hear of a boy doing well , which only happened because of sacrificial parenting.
I work with Young Offenders who might have been scouts instead of criminals if only somebody had cared. ( One boy came home from school in grade 8 to find all his stuff on the sidewalk with a note. His Mom's live in boyfriend didn't want him in the house so Mom put him out.)

I just wanted to say thankyou to all who posted. My son really liked the well wishes.
By-the-way, the court of honor went very well. We had the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard do the presentation of the colors, which was really sweet. Especially since I had to call in a favor from the base commander in order to get it done. Seems that they have stopped doing Honor Guards due to budget cutback for all by Funerals.
Almost all of the family that was close came, along with some of his good friends and neighbors and of course the troop. Afterwards, they all came over to the house for bbq. Good party.
Once again, thanks for the thoughts.

Rodney
