22 cal blanks
22 cal blanks
I bought some remington 22 cal blanks from Lowes the number 2 brown ones arent that loud, but the number 4 yellow are really loud. Does anybody know which load is close to a 209 primer?

I always use brown. It should work fine. It's the closest to primers, IMO.
Either way, the next step up is yellow, so you don't have much choice.

Re: 22 cal blanks
I use a Green Remington for most everything but use a brown for starting pups. Once they are OK with the gun I reload 20Ga. blanks. Again, I can start out with a softer report and then up the charge to get the louder report. To me using a shotgun adds a little more realism to the situation when working steadiness and water work for the UT Test.

Is the green in between the brown and yellow?

According to the back of the box the Brown is a #2 charge and the Green is a #3 charge so I would have to assume it is in between.

I use the green to starting pus/dogs and older dogs with yellow. They all work great..I agree--Brown is the closest to a primer.

Re: 22 cal blanks
Brown #2
Green #3
Yellow #4....in order of lowest to loudest charge
We use greens and yellows just fine, I would also say the browns are close to primers....

My gun only shoots the crimps. Where do they compare?

Re: 22 cal blanks
I shoot em through a nef, and I have an old crapm gun that shoots em to..as long as it takes a .22 cal I don't see why not. Maybe there are some exceptions I am not aware of though.

Re: 22 cal blanks
Be careful, I purchased a gun that only shoots crimps. I bought a couple of boxes of regular .22 blanks before I realized this and most sporting goods stores don't let you return ammo so you're left with 20 bucks worth of blanks you'll never use unless you buy a new gun.
