red setters

Post by up-hunter » Tue Feb 10, 2009 3:37 pm

I'm asking this question for a friend, he hates computers lol. He loves the looks and what he's read about red setter, he has all the differences down between teh akc and fdsb, and i've shown him the red setter field trial site, but what he would like to know, if anyone on here can give us some insite on training them or if they can give any hunting experiences with them?

thanks in advance

You'd train them the same as any other pointing breed.Talk to Doc Boser or Al Fazenbaker from the Red Setter site, they'd be able to fill you in about them probably better then anoyone.I know the dogs those two breed are known for excellent temperments making them good house dogs, family dogs and buddy dogs. But then when they're cut loose to hunt or trial they show what they're all about-All Business.

Tim Hammonds in Berea, KY has some of the best in the Nation, and I mean good stuff. I've seen alot of his dogs run down here in alot of trials.
