I better get my dog out for some more hunting

Post by GSP 4 me » Thu Jan 29, 2009 12:23 pm

My wife let our dog go do his business this morning and then she came back to say "We have problem, go get the dog.....NOW! There is a dead rat at the bottom of the back steps and the dog is sitting next to it."

Since I wasn't dressed yet, I whistled for him to come up the stairs and was surprised to hear his cooperative footsteps.  Well, he only came up because he wanted to show off the nice big rat he brought with him.  My wife freaked out, but I have to say it was a nice retrieve with a soft mouth and he dropped it at my feet.......time to get the dog out on a hunt.

That's OK until he retrieves the wife's cat!

Ya just get him to retrieve muskrats from now on, at least ya can sell them on the fur market and they're very easy to skin!

LOL, we're in the same boat. Last Friday night my DH let 3 of ours in and wasn't really looking at them as they ran in the door. Copper, our 3 1/2 yr old Female, had a ferrule cat she dropped before she went into her crate, thank goodness it was dead! Then a few nights later I let them in making sure nothing was hanging out of their mouths but I was busy getting a fire started in the wood stove. the 2 males kept bugging me and I even said "why can't you be like Copper and go lay down in your chairs." DH came home a couple min. later and walked in the livingroom and said, "what does she have now!" It was a bird, probably a sparrow . We are taking them to the perserve tomorrow!
