I'm wit' those who feel "style" boils down to the manifestation of desire:

Here's a few of dogs that I own. Rusty's passed on, but Rowdy is his son, and I think the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Hey Lowell, thanks for returning my call months ago!! I do love Neo, I keep telling people they need to look to him for breeding. I'd say your dogs are the definition of style. Tell your wife and kids hey for me.

Larry the style in those dogs is good, but the intensity in the bottom dog is what turns me on. He's so bug eyed there he looks like he's about to explode! Nice pups. CR

Style to me is simply the way a dog looks standing on a bird or it's way of going in the field. Without intensity, style is pretty, but won't make me sit up to tall. Style when running is simply the dogs way of going. Hard for me to put a finger on it, but some dogs just look better going than others. My Squirt looks better going than my Bodie but watch them alone and both look good. Yet Squirt will divert my attention from Bodie usually. Some dogs just lumber along, Bodie does not lumber, he simply doesn't run smooth enought compared to Squirt. But a dog with intensity and style makes me sit up and watch for fear of missing something. The dog that carries that over into the bird work, almost to the point of recklessness, get's my complete and undivided attention. On the other hand the dog that runs with style and intensity but points its birds in a so-so manner, maybe good style but no intensity or the other way around, I lose intrest in.

I think both dogs have good style and intensity on birds and will only get better but, when they run, Bodie looks like he's got his after burners kicked in while Squirt looks like he's floating on a magic carpet. I'm not sure which is really the fastest but Squirt does it with less effort!

This guy took another placement at a NSTRA trial last weekend though now that he's shaved he has considerably more ticking that I thought he had.

This little gal was 6 months old at the time. I took her into a field a couple days ago and she is pointing song birds like crazy. The more she point the more "stylish" she becomes. She is holding her head high and her tail is getting higher as well. As stylish as her points are becoming that pales in comparison to her style when running.
Image

This is my lab running with what I consider style. When she's running at top speed her stride gets even longer.

Maggie the female above was out of the 3rd breeding of Ace & Ginger. My solid liver avatar dog Major was from the first mating of those 2 dogs.Ace passed last Feb.Ginger is still living & will be 14 come Oct. Charlie Rose owns a solid liver female littermate to Maggie.Ace & Ginger are the foundation dogs of my kennel. They both came from Bob Merkel of Wrenegade Kennels in Iowa & I'm very proud of what they have given me.The style you see is typical of my dogs,& they are as lovable & personable as you will find anywhere. If it sounds like I'm bragging well I guess I am. :D

Right on, CR. It's the wroiled body, cranked head, skid to a stop "FREEZE RIGHT THERE!" when they shake from being so jacked up on bird scent. That's the style I love to see in the field. This is a picture of Jake @ 9mos old. He had a rooster and two hens nailed down and my wife was walking in to flush.
