Goose call?
Hello,
Ive been thinking about buying a goose call since we are going to be doing lots of goose hunting this year and my dad isn't very enthusiastic about calling so just lets me call (not to toot my own horn). Anyway id like a short reed because i heard if you know how to use one you can make it sound great and do so much more than a flute call (what i use now)
So what is a good call? Im aware that they are virtually all adjustable and you can buy reed kits but is it worth the 100-150$ price range if im going to tune it anyway? Or should i just buy a decent "good looking" call and tune it?
Thanks,
Isaac
If you have any recommendations let me know!

Re: Goose call?
Ive been looking at the Zink Money Maker call, its $150 but if its worth it like the reviews say id like to try it out. Any thoughts?
Re: Goose call?
Zink is a good brand but you don't need to spend 150. With some practice a 20-25 dollar call works just as good as the expensive ones. Zink makes a PC-1 with a training video for about 25 bucks if I remember correctly.

i use a lynche mob inferno basicly the same thing as the x-factor i believe, they run about $120 ive used zinks dont care much for their lower end calls but ther better ones arnt to bad and i know plenty of people that swear by them. i also like the molt gear ex3 but agian thats about a $130 call, dj illinois river valley calls has the model 77 wich is basicly the old OLT 77 goose call that runs under $40 i first started with the olt when i was learning to blow a short reed. there are lots of options out there what i would do is save up about $150 go to gander or what ever you have around that carries calls and try them out find the one you like best and go with that and $150 should be enough to make price a non issue and just pick what suits you best. learning a short reed will take practice hand placement is huge but they sound great once you know how to use them.

To start out go to a store & try a few out, there are plenty of calls in the $50 range that will be all you'll ever need in a hunting call. You will want a good instructional CD/DVD to learn from, it's literally like learning to play a musical instrument.
Scott Threinen has probably the best instructional DVD you can buy, he also makes a great call, EX3-d that's around $50

Save your $100 for now until you learn how to use the $50 call, then maybe you might want to get into contest calling someday or get into the really technical notes & then maybe you can invest in a $150-$200 call
