SD Futurity Baldwinsville, NY

Post by jcbuttry8 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:43 am

So, I am leaving in a few hours to head up for the Futurity. Hoping to make it in time for the drawing. I am looking forward to catching Kona on phez. I know Ross is running a few of his derbies this week but thought I would reach out and see if there were any others heading up to keep an eye out for?

Breed and Sex -- Owner -- Breeder -- Handler

1. Awsum Country Girl -- PF -- Bill and Margie Ricci -- Bill Ricci/ J Cannizzaro -- George Tracy
2. Backcountry Tornado -- PF -- Chris Catanzarite -- Chris Cantanzarite -- Chris Cantanzarite
3. Enhancement Southern Bell -- PF -- Tom Hance -- Bruce Mercer -- Mike Tracy
4. Eighty Eight's Wildeyed Kona -- PF -- Joe Buttry -- Tom Thoelke -- Mike Tracy

There were some great dogs this year. A lot of birds put out and some great work from some young dogs. It sure is fun to watch some of the younger pups when a cock bird gets up.

As for my little girl, she had a great forward race and made every cast she was sent on. She had four finds and a divide. She had 4 pheasant and a quail. She stuck all five and never moved. She looked like a statue. Mike Tracy has done a phenomenal job. I did bring her home today and it was nice to see her running around the back yard. You couldn't tell she had even left in June.

A big thanks to Tommyboy and Ol' Reb. Thanks for not listening to the naysayers!!

Anyone have the breeding on Awsum Country Girl ?
I'm guessing she's sired by Mrawsum (owned by the Ricci's) and out of...........

Congratulations! Whole lot better deal than getting dragged out of a brushpile by the tail :(

Thank you Karen. I was ecstatic when they called her. She looked amazing on Monday. Mike really put together a great run with her. Spent a little time last night talking to Jeanette about Chloe over cocktails. She sure is happy your little girl is back with her. She sure is a great dog.

Cajun,
You can't just leave it at that. What's the back story?

No story, really. My younger boy isn't quite used to running off horseback and so he decided to go versatile right in the middle of the show and went into a brushpile from which he declined to exit upon request. No clue what was in there. Thankfully, not another cottonpickin' snake after my oldest's recent episode.

Thanks Guys. She's come along way since the first stake you judged Doco. It's funny as I watched her stretch out on monday, I remembered her first horseback event braced with you. She spent the whole time trying to figure out how to get up on the horse with me. I really thought she was going to get stepped on.

Mike did a fantastic job of molding her. It will make it a bit easier around here. We will continue our bird work and start pushing those ever so important manners needed to back another good dog. We still need an Amateur placement but now we move forward and start getting ready for Shooting dog next spring.

Plans for this week, lay around and get loved on constantly by Emily, gain back a little bit more weight, and make mom angry every time she knocks her drink off the coffee table. It will be a good week.

Thanks Joe. Some folks from Nebraska might call it luck but I look at it like this- First litter from this pairing, only pup to a field trialer and I believe the results speak for themselves. Guess I'm batting a thousand from this end huh? Great job raising and running her in the amateurs and congrats to Mike Tracy for his work as well. Keep up the good work and I will see if I can get in on some of the action when I get to Missouri this month. By the way all the other pups turned out to be pretty darn good wild bird dogs and guide dogs as well.
