Puppy, Derby, or gun dog?
I can't wait to run more puppy stakes. I'm getting the itch for another dog.

Good luck to you. Our season begins next weekend and I'm sure we will thoroughly disgrace ourselves in our first horseback Shooting Dog endeavor.

Guys -
You gotta know the following:
If you are going to go down... Go down in flames and make the biggest "bleep" fireball you can.
Lots of folks have placed their dogs at trials. Not so many are remembered. The folks that created one of those spectacular fireballs... they get remembered.
Have a ball guys and gals.

Re: The first needle to the vein......
Well after a long weekend I had a great time. I handled my pup in walking ameture derby, and open derby and managed 4th place ribbons in each. Other than some issues with a wrangler horse , after my mare came up lame. It was more fun than I could have imagined and I met a ton of nice folks.
Now Im on the hunt for another horse (I need one like I need a hole in my head) and more dogs. haha.
We've got a few things to work on through the fall and winter, then all business this spring!

I also managed to handle a couple other dogs in some ameture stakes and managed to scrape up a 3rd on walking derby with a nice little setter, and a First in walking puppy with a FIREBALL of a gsp pup.

It was most certainly in jest Ted and I sincerely wish I could have had more time to sit and actually shoot the bull with you. As it were, you know I was pretty much in the saddle from start to finish and didn't get to chat much with anyone that wasn't on course.
I'm somewhat disappointed that Jim doesn't mention he handled his 14 month old BROKE in Derby the second day
Thanx for handling Biscuit in Amateur Derby and Rose in Amateur Puppy for me Jim, I just wish I could have seen the expression on your face when Rose made that initial break away cast and then when the Judge asked you if you knew where she was on her 2nd big cast!
I plotted it on Google Earth and she was averaging 800 plus

800plus sounds about right, I about peed myself when the judge said "pretty sure that white spot on the horizon is your dog"
My boy did most definately stand broke during his open derby. I wasn't sure if I was gona be able to squeeze my swelled head between those last 2 trees when I saw him standing as I came out of the little brush patch. You did great work with that boy bruce....
Ted, looking for another horse is nothing new for me , we got a barn full of them, but you are absolutely right that im hooked, I have to thank Bruce for all his work and gudance and everyone else I met for thier advice and the BS that managed to get tossed around a bit
