Pink Hunting Gear

Post by frosso » Wed Jul 04, 2012 2:00 pm

Saw on one of the post where fella bought his wife an 870 in pink camo. I'm a woman hunter and I just don't get the pink thing. I can't seem to buy women's hunting gear without pink on it somewhere. I hate pink. I don't need pink gear to remind me that I'm a woman, I've been one for my entire life. Sorry for the rant but thought some of you guys might find that funny. PLEASE someone make women's hunting gear without the color pink on it!

BTW, my Llew is female and she doesn't wear a pink collar.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I admit She makes gear without pink. I'm not sure their gear is made for women with hips but then again I haven't ordered their pants. Thanks for the link. I might order a pair to see.

My wife is considering hunting and she has never been real fond of the pink lines of clothing or the random camo guns either.

Thats good stuff right there!!!!!!!!!

I wish they would stop portraying us as skinny little barbie dolls with big boobs and blonde hair!!!! Some of us were unfortunate enough to have either sasquatch or amazon women bred in along the lines somewhere. At 6ft 200 pounds and some change...ok a lot of change, cloths shopping just for normal stuff is no picnic let alone hunting stuff.

I might be keeping some of them in business. :D I like pink and always have, even before I owned my first hunting dog.

I'm personally not a huge fan of pink so I don't buy it even though I do have a nice camo browning hat with a pink logo. I have gear from Filson and She Safari. Although I kind of wish She Safari would make pants that aren't cut so flippin high. Prois makes nice gear but it’s off the scale expensive and they don't really market to upland. But I can see why companies market pink so hard to women and why so many women buy it. I'm a muay thai fighter and golden gloves boxer and its similar to all the girls wanting pink gloves and pink hand wraps in the gym. I think it makes them feel a little more feminine in a male dominated sport. But you will never catch me with pink gear but I guess more power to them if they dig it.

Hey, I'm that fella, but she picked it out herself over the wood and black synthetic. The only thing I chose was the model 870. My wife makes my female shorthair wear a purple collar.

I admit to keeping the pink industry going... I have a pink whistle, pink NGDC hat, pink gloves, pink ear plugs and apink ammo pouch and a pink scarf in the winter.... Doesn't mean my dogs are any worse off :P I think that pink and blaze orange are a new fashion trend! For the record, my girls wear yellow, teal, orange and purple collars and my gun is original wood. My ornamental, retired female Vizsla is the only one in pink!

My husband gifted me with a Ruger SR22 pistol recently. He tried to get me a pink handgun, and I'm kind of glad he didn't. Might've been a little too much for my taste. The gun that came in pink didn't have good reviews, and this one had super reviews. He did go with some pink accessories though, like safety glasses and ear muffs, which I like.

I haven't really seen much hunting wear with pink in it, just usually casual wear, like t's, hats and such. But then I usually save a ton of money and just buy stuff off the men's/youth rack. Women's stuff seems to go for 2x the price, if you can find it. I have one SheSafari shooter's shirt that came off a clearance rack for $15, otherwise it's out of my budget.

When I met my husband, he had a pink Snap-On screwdriver kit, and worked at a HD dealership. He got a little flak, but his reasoning was sound. That screwdriver never got swiped by any of the other grease monkeys. If they borrowed it, he knew who had it. And if he had a ton of tools sitting out on the workbench, it was easy to find.

Now, I don't hunt, but as a female scuba Instructor, I'm constantly amazed by why equipment manufacturers seem to think that "smaller & pink" is always the way to go. NOT!!! I have a drysuit that happens to have pink on it, but it was purely by accident, not on purpose. That's about it.

I'm more interested in fit & performance of my gear rather than what colour it is. And these people that have to have all their gear colour co-ordinated? (Goes for hunting too, BTW.) What's up with that???

Yeah, I'm right there with you on this one...

Brydgirl- You can wear whatever color you want with a Golden Glove.

I'm not saying women shouldn't wear pink but some of us don't need or want pink. And I agree that all the women hunting models are skinny women in skimpy clothes but then again the guy models all look like they could be Navy Seals. I mean really, how many of us look like that?

Hey, I guess they are selling clothes so maybe I'm wrong about what women want. I just know this woman wants comfortable, functional, normal hunting gear.

I'm an engineer and I have another rant about women on construction sites wearing pink hard hats. :P
