Post by prairiefirepointers » Fri May 06, 2011 5:18 pm

Today I was cleaning out my pickup, toolbox & dog box for stuff I "could live without" in preperation for a garage sale this weekend. (It all needed cleaned out anyway) I was thinking when I was going through the top storage in my box, that this might make a good thread.

I had:

A brick of .22 shells
Hand thrower for clay targets
partial retail case of Rehydrate
gloves
First Aid Kit
Checkcord
Leash
Filson Strap vest
(6)Rehydrate sport bottles
Sweatshirt
Training Pistol
(5)Pkgs Wheat & Cheddar Crackers
Balaclava
DFT- Pheasant
DFT- Mallard
Camelback Rehydration System
Flashlight
ziplock bag of dog food

Being a newbie to this game and only having my box for 7 months, not too much. Still trying to figure out exactly what is really needed.

I don't know. I declined further investigation after it hissed at me.

The aluminum box is empty for the summer, traveling light at the moment with just a Mud River Dixie Kennel Cover that just has a bowl, some food, and a dummy in it. Emptied it for cleaning.

Usually will also have:
First Aid kit
Shells of some sort
Leash
Extra whistle
Flashlight
Dog Boots
Jacket/hoodie
Check Cord
Game belt
Duck Calls
Folding camp chair
Flask of Jack Daniels
Couple of padlocks
Rope
Crackers
Duct tape
Orange cap
Toilet Paper
Baby wipes
I have English Pointers because they don't ever grow up either...

I opened the lid to mine and something moved and growled at me so I shut it up and locked it!

At well over 6' and about 300# I shouldn't admit this but I will anyways. Today when I was pilfering through the top storage in my box I was standing on the passenger side of my truck up against the side of the flatbed and reaching over into the top storage. My F250 Sits pretty high as most 4X4's do. A short person would have to climb onto the flatbed to reach anything towards the middle. As I was pilfering, I grabbed somthing to move it, and somthing flew up towards my face and I screetched like a little girl.. quite loudly indeed. I then realized I wasn't being attacked by anything I couldn't handle. It was a wad of bird feathers that got swept up in the breeze (had both sides of the top storage open) and blew up towards my face.

I looked around and luckily noone was watching.

Beyond the listed norm, I carry photos of both my dogs.
Dogs can become seperated for any number of reasons or misadventures from the field to a motel parking lot.
It would seem that a 42# english setter, white and orange, wearing a green collar would identify a dog sufficiently but from the stares I received one time...a photo may be worth more than a thousand words...it may be worth a dog's life.

I would add Cowboy Magic and up -to-date copies of health records.
I also carry a key for a JD dozer as I was locked behind a gate with one once.

I'm 6-4 and 280.....the invention of spiders was a bad idea.

If ya'd like to add anything else i probably got that too LOL.

Unfortunately, mine doesn't really get that privilege.. Its used nearly year-round. The idea of integrating a dog trailer into my scheme passes through my mind regularly. I hope to get one by this fall... We'll see.

At the moment it contains an ATV, toolbox, log chain and a spare tire, so today he got to ride in the front of the truck.
