Pound Puppy DID AWESOME!!!

Post by labman21 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 12:07 pm

Hey, I took Ruger out today in freezing you know what cold today and he did really well. We got our dekes set up and he decided he wanted to join me in the freezing water which didn't seem to bother him. He had a little trouble staying still at first but that is to be expected of a 1.5 year old dog. Unfortunately we didn't get any shooting opporotunities today because our original spot was taken by some other "hunters". But Ruger got to hear gun shots, he didn't flinch a bit which was our goal today. I just took a shot into the brush to see how he would do. I had a fun frozen time with my puppy :)

One question, what is the best way to take care of frozen puppy paws in the field?

in the field i would get some of those neoprene bootys. Also another great investment for your dog if your are goin to duck in the frigid waters, get him a neoprene vest, they can be a lifesaver for real.
if u can't do it with a dog it aint worth doin

huntin dogs are like potato chips you can't have just one.

That's great. Glad you had a good first day.

the only problem is I can't find booty's big enough for either of my dogs, the extra large's would barely fit over a toe (exagerating.)

The vest I am working on though

Lion country supply has nice codura boots that will fit any dog.....if you can't figure a size to fit your animal it probably isnt a dog
