Where to buy an Astro

Post by M1Tanker » Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:26 am

I have noticed that Ebay and other web sellers are selling the Astro units for around $500 rather than the $599 at retailer sites.

Has anyone bought one of the lower priced versions and had any problems?

I am thinking that if it is new in the box and not refurbished, Garmin should cover the warranty?

First of all thank you for your Service.

There seems to be a lot of rip-off folks on Ebay.

If the list price for the Astro is $599 you should be able to buy it for $500 online or an 800 number using a credit card.

Best wishes

Be sure to use an Amex. Amex gives an idiot warranty for 90 days - like "I lost it" or "I ran over it" or "it was stolen" - and then doubles the manufacturer's limited warranty.

The Nerds has the DC30 bundle for $466.99. I know folks who got theirs there.

I ended up buying one from Amazon for $498 and some change with free shipping. I called Garmin was told they would honor the warranty on a purchase from Amazon but they do not honor them from Ebay.

Can't wait til August 3rd!
