What breed?
What breed?
I know many have posted about this before but I want to ask some opinions on dog breeds. First here is the back ground. We are looking at getting a new dog for the family. Here is what we are looking for:
1.Hunting breed-upland bird and or duck mostly!
2.Smaller say around 22"
3.Preferably minimal shedding
4. Would like to have the breed be one that enjoys the water as we do a lot of dock jumping.....
So start the suggestions!

Re: What breed?
Depending on the temperature of the water during duck season in your area a female GSP would be my first choice, second would probably be a female Small Munsterlander, or a Britt if it's from good hunting lines if it's pretty cold. CR
There's a reason I like dogs better'n people

Re: What breed?
I'd go w/ a Boykin.
Re: What breed?
A Boy-what? That one of them that picks up chucks
bucks
and anything that sorta clucks?
Little bigger than 22" though--hold on, that' wouldn't be inches, but pounds, whopping 25 of 'em in this package.

Hah! I will ditto that... but I think we are all partial to the breed that we ultimately choose.GSPVIZ wrote:A Vizsla of course!

Re: What breed?
A Female Drahtharr. (for size)
Nothing hunts harder. Minimal Shedding. A Pointer to boot.
I like Boykins too but Hip dysplasia is the Highest among Any working breed, followed by Chessies. Have to do homework of course.
For dock jumping/cold water..hands down, DD. Warmer weather gives you alot for options..GSP, Boykin, Britts etc
Heres link of a Draht breeder whose dogs have a little 'get up' in them..very nice dogs

Re: What breed?
Boykin Spaniel, of course. Upland, wetland, brushland and homeland! Yes, I'm biased.
